In Fall 2010, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released Strategies for the "ABCS" of Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention. The ABC's document outlined five target areas as part of a comprehensive approach to heart disease and stroke prevention. The brief, 10-page, document states prevention strategies for each of the five "ABCS".

- Cholesterol Control
- Sodium Reduction
- Smoking Cessation
